QLD: Job numbers "positive", despite rise Elder

BRISBANE, Jan 14 AAP - The Queensland government today described the state's latest
unemployment figures as "positive" despite a slight rise in the jobless rate.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose from 8.2 per cent in November to 8.4
per cent last month.

But Acting Premier Jim Elder said the figures actually showed Queensland was responsible
for more than half of all new jobs created in Australia last month.
