SA: $2.7m to improve indigenous health services in SA

South Australian indigenous communities are getting $2.7 million to improve health services.

The federal and state governments say the funding will be spent on GP services, chronic
disease management, diabetes care, antenatal care, mental health and drug and alcohol
counselling.

Three communities will receive the money -- the Wakefield Health Region; the Hills,
Mallee, Southern Health Region; and the Port Augusta sub-region of the Northern and Far
Western Health Region.

Federal Health Minister TONY ABBOTT and South Australian Health Minister LEA STEVENS
say the funding's part of the expansion of the Primary Health Care Access Program.
